Inclusive care

Every child belongs here.

Some children need a little more support with speech, movement or behaviour. Little Otters is an inclusive centre that works directly with FSCD and welcomes the GRIT and PUF programs, so support can happen where your child already plays.

How it works

Inclusive care at Little Otters

We work directly with FSCD

Alberta's Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program can include child care supports for eligible families. We coordinate with your FSCD worker so the plan works in our rooms.

GRIT and PUF for speech and development

Early-learning teams funded through Alberta Education's Program Unit Funding (PUF), such as GRIT (now Kids Included), can support children at child care. We welcome them into our rooms.

An inclusive environment

Children learn side by side. Routines, visuals and small adjustments help every child take part.

Questions parents ask

Inclusive care: quick answers

Does Little Otters accept FSCD?

Yes. Little Otters works directly with Alberta's Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program. Talk to your FSCD worker about child care supports, and tell us when you enquire.

What are GRIT and PUF?

PUF (Program Unit Funding) is Alberta Education funding for early-learning support for children with a severe disability or severe language delay, generally from 2 years 8 months to 4 years 8 months. GRIT (now Kids Included) is an Edmonton-area program funded through PUF whose teams can work with children in child care. Little Otters welcomes both.

Can my child get speech support at daycare?

Children enrolled in GRIT or another PUF program can receive support from that program's team while at Little Otters. Ask us and your program provider how it would work for your child.

Is the centre inclusive for all children?

Yes. Little Otters is an inclusive environment. Tell us about your child's needs and we'll talk honestly about how we can support them.
