Fees & subsidies

What you'll actually pay, in plain language.

Alberta changed how childcare is funded in 2025, and a lot of what's online is out of date. Here's how it works now, plus a quick estimator for your family.

Babies to kindergarten age

Flat parent fee

$326.25/month full-time

At licensed daycares that receive Alberta's affordability funding, every family pays the same flat fee, whatever their income. Part-time (50–99 hours a month) is $230.

You don't apply. It's built into your invoice.

Full-time kindergarten to grade 6

Child Care Subsidy

Up to $644/month (kindergarten)

Families earning under $90,000 can apply for help with licensed care outside school hours. Grades 1–6: up to $366, and up to $644 in July and August.

Apply online through the Alberta Childcare Family Portal.

Funding estimator

Which funding applies to you?

Answer three quick questions. We'll show the Alberta program that applies and the maximum amount, using the province's 2026 tables.

This is an estimate based on Alberta's published rates. Your exact amount depends on your registered hours and, for the subsidy, your CRA Notice of Assessment (line 15000).
